Posh Hair Extensions Review (+ Luxy Hair Review!)

Hello darlings on a lovely weekend! I'm super happy because after this weekend I'm off for an entire week for reading week. Yay! No classes or midterms, for now. Okay lets not begin to ramble, this is a review for some cool stuff!

So today's highlight is going to be on clip in extensions. Before the set I'm going to be talking about today, I have previously owned one other set of extensions from Luxy Hair Extensions. I use extensions because sometimes I feel as though no matter how thick you hair is, you can always use some extra volume! In no ways am I calling my hair thin or short, as you will see later it's already thick without the extensions.

I purchased the Luxy Extensions back in early 2012 and was super excited to receive them as the Luxy sisters had a YouTube channel and the extensions looked super amazing. I ordered the #4 Chocolate Brown Deluxe Set in 160 grams and when it came, I was surprised. While the extensions initially seemed super soft and didn't shed, the colour was completely off from the website. It was much lighter than chocolate brown, and it was more like a medium toffee. Needless to say, I had to dye them, but it wasn't a huge problem. However, after dying the extensions they became matted and tangled, very easily. The worst part was when the clips fell off after I wore them twice and I had to sew them back on. Now that is completely rediculous.

I would not recommend Luxy Hair, not to anyone.

About these extensions:

These are Posh Hair Extensions, a company I found through some YouTubers and decided to purchase for myself. I chose #2 Dark Brown in 22"and 180 grams. Posh Hair is a relatively new company that is located in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and offers 100% Remi Human Hair Extensions for relatively inexpensive prices. By relatively, it's a fair price and not like those unrealistic Ebay prices! Unfortunately there aren't many reviews online yet about this company because it is so new. These extensions come naturally straight but you can curl/wave them just like your own hair! The best thing is that shipping to Canada is super fast! (I got mine in 4 business days)

What do I think?

I am a fan of these extensions and do like them a whole lot more than the Luxy ones. I do wish that when the packaging arrived it came like the Luxy ones with a sample strip because it could definitely save some people from getting the wrong shade. The quality of hair that Posh provides is good, soft, and to be honest, practically to the same level of the $300+ ones I've felt in salons. Although one thing I  do wish is that the ends were thicker as they are a crucial part in blending your real hair into it. They're not terribly thin but could be better! I do absolutely love the length of these at 22", but they were a bit long so I trimmed them down to about 21" and they hang just below my bust.

Although these extensions are very thick, if you have naturally thick hair or a blunt cut, they will not blend very well! I had to layer my natural hair a little bit to make them blend better.

The come with: 10 wefts total

3 x 4 clip wefts
3 x 3 clip wefts
2 x 2 clip wefts
2 x 1 clip wefts

My hair with the whole set clipped in.

Pros:
- Has the look and feel of Euro-Afro-Asian hair, which blends well with most ethnicities.
- Comes in 180 grams which is more than the typical 160 grams.
- Super fast shipping to Canada.
- Great price ($159.95) for 22" clip in extensions.
- Has free worldwide shipping. (Easily saves you $10-$15!)
- Does not have the fake, shiny feeling of some extensions.
- Accurate website pictures to choose colours from. (Saves you hassle of wrong shades!)
- Clips are more durable than the Luxy Extensions.
- Offers a great variety of lengths (20", 22" and 24") unlike many extension companies these days.

Cons:
- Shipping to the rest of the world takes quite a while. (7-15 business days)
- Ends are not extremely thick.
- The company does not offer sets over 200 grams, which will not be thick enough for some people.
- Does not include a tester strip to test the colour.
- My set did come with one strange clip that does not quite snap shut, but does not slip off either.
- The extensions will not blend very well for anyone with a blunt haircut. You have to either wear them curly all the time or layer your hair!

My hair before and after the full set of extensions.

See! It's so voluminous! My hair is not short or thin to begin with but is a little short for my preference. I guess my natural hair looked cute and wavy but wow! When I added those extensions in it make my hair look so hot! I feel like it sort of resembles Katherine Pierce's look from the Vampire Diaries... Tutorial!

That's it for my review! I would recommend these and do check them out here!

PS. As I already mentioned, I purchased these myself! Oh psh, I wish I had people sending me things for free.

10 Things You Didn't Know About Me

Since my blog is relatively new, those of you who recently began following me might not know much about me. So I thought what better than to tell you some facts about me!

Here are 10 things you probably didn't know about me:

1. I'm studying at the University of Toronto for a double degree in Political Science and Sociology. After this I'm hoping to go to law school!

2. My hair is naturally straight and dark brown except the pieces around my face which are legitimately curly. Ugh! I straighten those parts almost every day!

3. I am 1/8 European from my mom's side. Doesn't look like it right, not like it makes a difference anyway! Also, the rest of me is Chinese.

4. I am the first to be Canadian born in my family and both of my parents were born in Hong Kong. They immigrated here almost 24 years ago!

5. Once part of my nail polish chips off, I cannot help it but pick off the rest. It's a horrible habit I know, I'm trying to kick it!

6. I used to be overweight (not severely) and reached my heaviest back in 2005 when I was 11, 5' tall and 140 pounds. Let those teenage insecurities begin.

7. My birth date is November 15, 1994. I'm 18 years old right now and will turn 19 in November!

8. In my old blog I lied about my age because I felt like I wouldn't get any followers because I was so young. I told everyone I was 2 years older than my real age and felt horrible that I couldn't be honest about most of the events in my life. Such regrets!

9. My everyday lip product is lip balm. As much as I love makeup, I can't seem to get myself to wear lip products everyday!

10. I am an only child and secretly dislike it when people told me they wish they were an only kid. You don't understand how lonely those family vacations were!

aaaand, I'm out

Blushing for Mr. Valentine...

Hello my beautiful people. It's that time of the year again! The lovely Valentine's Day! Now I understand that not everybody has a date for V-Day, but who says that should stop you from wearing the lovely pinks and purples? If anything, look better on V-Day so that the suckers who aren't with you can feel the burn! Haha.

I happen to love V-Day as it nicely coincides with my boyfriend Justin and I's anniversary. Well, not exactly. We got together on February 12th, 2009 which makes this year our 4 year anniversary. Time really does fly right by! Sometimes I still wonder, why two days before V-Day? Doesn't that just make it one big-ol celebration? I guess it does, and I don't remember what I was thinking. Ha!

Here's the look I'll be wearing tomorrow when I go see my boyfriend!

What's on my face?

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

Shoes, Cameras & Life

Hello my pretty ladies. It feels so nice to be back on the blogging scene after my 5 month hiatus! If you knew me from my old blog, many things have changed such as where I live, what I use, etc! Let's begin with the basic stuffs.

Throughout the entire time that I was writing my old blog to about September of last year, I lived at home with my parents. Since last fall I started my first semester of University, I have moved into a fabulous suite style dorm room in which I share a house with a few other girls. The school I've chosen to attend is located in the heart of Toronto and living down here definitely has it's perks. But one of the important reasons why I stopped blogging was because schoolwork and parties simply took it's share of time!

Aside from living changes I also underwent a few other technological changes that I hoped would better my blog and youtube channel! I realized a couple months ago that my blog was left collecting dust in a sad little corner, and thought I would do something to revitalize it.

Let's go for a little camera history...

I started my old blog back in July 2009 with ambition, a love for makeup and a small little Sony Cybershot point & shoot camera. Those were the days. It had noisy pictures, fuzzy videos and awful sound. But somehow I made do with it and blogged for an entire year with it. Wow!

Then flew to the days of June 2010, where I felt like my little Sony was totally dissatisfying and hurt the image of my newly growing blog. That was when I felt a need for change. Therefore, I looked to purchase the likes of a Nikon L110. It wasn't quite a point & shoot, but wasn't nearly as good as a DSLR. It did the job, but I wasn't satisfied.

A flash of time happened to August 2010, while knowing that I was supposed to be happy with the new Nikon, I was annoyed by the lack of depth and mediocre image quality. So I quickly sold that and made one of the most significant purchase I've ever made so far - a Canon Rebel XS DSLR. I was totally happy with it and it definitely changed the presentation of my blog forever.

Quickly fast forward to October 2012, where DSLR were finally all the rage to every Youtuber. My little aging XS lacked the video capability that now every DSLR just had to have. Since I wanted to upgrade my youtube channel, I made the deal and finally got myself a Canon Rebel T3i! It's absolutely amazing of a camera, had better image quality than my older XS and take the best videos!

Above is a random picture I took of myself that I didn't post last time I made a FOTD! Besides a new DSLR, I also made another purchase of my life which was mostly for school but also for my significant personal enjoyment. That is a Macbook Pro 13.3! I purchased it last fall and I'm typing away on it right now and it's absolutely amazing. I remember hearing about all these people raving about their MacBooks back in the days and wondering why they loved it SO much.

Now I know why! Let me just list a few reasons. The operating system is so much smoother than Windows. Hear me. I've been a PC girl my entire life and most of my family still uses PCs so I can definitely tell! It is also super easy to use and literally took me 30 minutes to adjust to the new OS. The design of the computer is beautiful with it's gorgeous silver look! Also, iMovie is simply far superior than Windows Movie Maker! Trust me, I'm not saying any of these because I'm an Apple fangirl. I personally don't prefer the iPhone/iPad interface!

There's my baby, sitting next to my other baby, the Samsung Galaxy S3!

So far this point it may seem like I'm bragging about what I use, but please keep in mind that I made these purchases over the span of around 6 months. I'm not going to lie that using my student budget I paid for everything - in fact I didn't. But I did pay for more than 50% of it and the rest was thanks for my wonderfully generous parents.

I know you read this mom, thank you so much!

Alright enough with all the technology talks. Lets get to something girlier!

These are my Sam Edelman Lorissa Pumps!

Words really cannot describe how much I love these shoes. All my friends know that I have this bizarre love for spiked or studded shoes, and these are literally the best combination I have ever seen. I remember when I first noticed them years ago, they retailed full price for $240. No sales, ever. But the heavens were definitely singing when I found them on Hautelook for $80! With shipping and all came to about $100, but still amazing!

Michael Antonio Mills Booties

Aren't these bad boys so hot, casual and cute all at the same time? I found them at Hautelook for only $30 and really just had to have them! The speed in which I whipped out my card for these were only exceeded by the Lorissas... Damn you Hautelook! Why do you keep tempting me!

That's it! So I leave you with a picture of what I pretty much look like right now. Sorry if those post seems kind of jibber jabber and all over the place! I really needed to catch up and I'm glad to be back.

Yay!
